CREATOR/CEO SAMMIE KENNEDY RANKED AS ONE OF CANADA’S TOP YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS

Toronto, November 14, 2011 – Toronto, ON November 14, 2011 – Booty Camp Fitness Inc. creator & CEO, Sammie Kennedy, has been distinguished as one of Canada’s top 20 young entrepreneurs as part of the first annual FuEL Awards celebrating Canada’s Future Entrepreneurial Leaders. The FuEL Awards honour the achievements and aspirations of entrepreneurs under the age of 30.

“I’m so excited to be included in this first-ever award series recognizing young entrepreneurs,” says Kennedy. “Starting Booty Camp at the age of 24 and growing it in the last four years to nearly 100 locations with over 70 instructors was definitely risky. Taking that chance has proven incredibly rewarding and I’m very proud of how the business has grown. To have my efforts acknowledged with this award is icing on the cake. Canadian youth boast a lot of entrepreneurial talent and it’s great that the FuEL Awards are highlighting these driven individuals.”

“Canada’s future competitiveness rests in the hands of entrepreneurs who can produce world-beating innovations, create high-quality jobs and build sustainable businesses,” said Ian Portsmouth, editor-in-chief of PROFIT Magazine. “The winners of the inaugural FuEL Awards not only show those abilities, but are also role models who inspire youth to choose the entrepreneurial path.”

The FuEL Awards take a unique and innovative approach by engaging Canadians of all ages and walks of life in determining the winners. The program integrates today’s most popular social media tools to attract nominations, applications and votes for the candidates. Votes from the general public constitute 20% of each candidate’s total score, with the remainder determined by a panel of judges from the entrepreneurial community.

CREATOR SAMMIE KENNEDY RANKED AS ONE OF CANADA’S TOP WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS

Toronto, October 12, 2011 – Booty Camp Fitness Inc. creator & CEO, Sammie Kennedy, has been recognized once again by PROFIT Magazine, placing #30 on their 13th annual W100 – a ranking of Canada’s top enterprising women entrepreneurs.

“This has been such an incredible year for me,” says Kennedy. “To be on the PROFIT W100 for a second time and on the PROFIT Hot 50 in the company of such amazing entrepreneurs who are changing the way we do business in Canada is a feeling I can’t describe. I’m very honoured to be recognized for making my passion my profession.”
For the second year in a row, Kennedy has the largest percentage growth of all the honourees on the list, growing her business a colossal 1,915% over three years. Successful and non-traditional methods she’s used to build and motivate her team to deliver excellence include:

The colours test – while skill is important, a good fit is crucial

Superstar compensation & constantly reinvesting in staff – as an entrepreneur finances can be tight but mediocre pay often leads to mediocre performance

Friendly internal competition motivating excellence

Ranking Canada’s Top Women Entrepreneurs on a composite score based on the size, growth rate and profitability of their businesses, the PROFIT W100 profiles the country’s most successful female business owners. Published in the November issue of PROFIT and online at www.PROFITguide.com, the PROFIT W100 is Canada’s largest annual celebration of entrepre¬neurial achievement by women.

Since its creation in 2007, Booty Camp Fitness has expanded nation-wide with approximately 100 locations across Canada.
BOOTY CAMP RANKED AS ONE OF CANADA’S TOP NEW GROWTH COMPANIES

Toronto, August 31, 2011 – Booty Camp Fitness Inc. has been recognized once again as a Canadian small business success, this time placing 18th on the 12th annual PROFIT HOT 50 - the definitive ranking of Canada’s Top New Growth Companies that ranks young firms by two-year revenue growth.

“The ongoing success and recognition of Booty Camp Fitness is not only rewarding but also very motivating,” says Sammie Kennedy, creator and CEO of the company. “Growing from being on 2009’s PROFIT W100 list as a Top 10 Emerging Woman Entrepreneur and then jumping onto the W100 list at #37 was just fantastic. It’s so exciting to take it to the next level by securing a spot on the HOT 50. We look forward to continuing to positively influence the lives of women across Canada.”

“The PROFIT HOT 50 exhibit all the traits that underpin business success,” says PROFIT editor Ian Portsmouth. “With good products, persistent and focused leaders and motivated teams, Canada’s Top New Growth Companies have achieved enviable growth rates despite a shaky economy.”

Kennedy’s company boasts explosive, sustainable expansion, having grown her business a 461% between 2008 and 2010, scooping her awards including Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Top Best Small Medium Employer in Canada and Top 50 Employers in the GTA. Some of Kennedy’s techniques for expanding rapidly and successfully that emerging entrepreneurs can apply to their own small businesses include:

Invest & engage in employees – Booty Camp rewards top-performing instructors with incentives such as a paid vacation for the company’s Instructor of the Year

Only hire ‘superstars’ and compensate them as such – at traditional fitness clubs, the best paid trainers earn about $50/hour whereas Booty Camp instructors can earn up to $127/hour

Hire slow and fire fast – if an employee or instructor isn’t performing well or improving quickly, it reflects badly on the entire company.

Since its creation in 2007, Booty Camp Fitness has expanded from two Toronto-based locations to nearly 100 across Canada. The company’s core values of Fun Friendly Fitness have attracted over 45,000 women to participate in the program with an extensive waiting list for consistently sold out boot camp sessions.

Shock Absorber and Booty Camp Fitness partner to raise awareness about breast health

Toronto, ON May 18, 2011 – Shock Absorber, the leading sports bra brand from the UK, is teaming up with Canada’s largest women’s only boot camp, Booty Camp Fitness, to raise awareness throughout the month of June about female breast health and the importance of wearing a proper fitting sports bra during physical activity. The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation indicated that in 2010, an estimated 23,200 women in Canada will be diagnosed with breast cancer, an increase of (500) from 2009.* Studies have shown that exercising regularly and wearing a properly fitted bra can reduce your chances of developing breast cancer.**

SHOCK YOUR BODY will launch in June for all members enrolled in Booty Camp Fitness sessions across Canada. The campaigns’ goal is to increase member’s awareness about female breast health and sports bra support in hopes of reducing potential harm to breast tissue that may cause breast cancer. “We are thrilled to be partnering with Booty Camp Fitness and their amazing recruits (clients) as we are all focussed on achieving the same goal; living a fun and healthy lifestyle. Shock Absorber sports bras can help reduce potential harm to breast tissue, and we hope that SHOCK YOUR BODY will motivate women to become more interested in breast health and wearing proper fitted sports bras.” Catina Filardo, Shock Absorber UK.

Booty Camp Fitness instructors from across the country will be leading SHOCK YOUR BODY by sporting Shock Absorber bras, discussing breast health during Booty Camp sessions, and providing members with breast health fact information. Each Booty Camp Fitness recruit (client) enrolled in June camps will be receiving exclusive savings from Shock Absorber so they too can experience the support and comfort of wearing a properly fitted Shock Absorber sports bra. Interactive online contests to WIN a Shock Absorber sports bra will also be launching in June, exclusively for Booty Camp Fitness recruits.

Sammie Kennedy, CEO of Booty Camp Fitness, expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership. “Working with Shock Absorber is a perfect fit - many women tend to wear bras that fit improperly and this is a great way to promote breast health and proper support to our all-female clientele. We’re excited to partner up with them and educate women on breast health, as well as share some fun and functional swag!”

The official SHOCK YOUR BODY campaign will launch at the beginning of June in Booty Camp Fitness sessions across Canada and online at www.BootyCampFitness.com, in the recruits only section of the website. New recruits are welcome to join the June Booty Camp sessions where space is available.

WORKOUT MOVES FIT FOR A BRIDAL PRINCESS

WORKOUT MOVES FIT FOR A BRIDAL PRINCESS

Toronto, ON April 29, 2011 – This morning the world watched in awe as the royal wedding between Kate Middleton and Prince William took place. Kate – now Princess Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge – no doubt knew that all eyes would be watching her on her special day. Every bride-to-be can relate on the pressure to be wedding gown-ready and it’s easy to get there with some simple moves that tighten and tone.

“Kate Middleton looked absolutely stunning in her Alexander McQueen wedding gown,” says Sammie Kennedy, one of North America’s top ranked trainers and creator and CEO of Booty Camp Fitness. “The dress was ethereal and elegant, and very form fitting on her arms and waist. I would imagine that Kate did a lot of work focusing on her biceps, triceps and core to look as spectacular as she did.”

Sammie offers her top moves to get toned arms and a slim waistline like Kate Middleton. Perform three sets of twelve reps for all moves:

Close Grip Push-up: Get in the push-up (knees) position bringing hands close to each other. Complete a push-up keeping your elbows & abs drawn in. Press back up to the top.

Tricep Dips: Sit on a bench or chair and begin with the hands next to or slightly under hips. Lift up onto hands and bring the hips forward. Bend the elbows (no lower than 90 degrees) and lower hips down, keeping them close to the chair. Keep the shoulders down and push back up without locking elbows.

Cross Body Mountain Climbers - Assume a standard push up arms fully extended (up-position) and legs extended straight back, with the feet approximately 8-12 inches apart. Hips and shoulders should be aligned, so that the back is parallel with the floor. Hold in abdominals, bringing the right knee forwards and across the body towards the elbow, keeping the foot close to the ground. Extend the leg back to the start position and repeat, alternating right and left until all repetitions have been performed.

Frog Crunch - Lie in a supine position with hands tucked under the bum. Lift extended legs, head and upper shoulders off the ground. Exhale and curl up, shortening the distance between hips and ribcages. At the same time bend knees allowing them to separate as wide as possible but keeping the balls of the feet together, curling the right knee in towards the right shoulder and the left knee in towards the left shoulder. Hold for a moment then return to start position and repeat.

Booty Camp Fitness is Canada’s largest women’s-only boot camp program with approximately 100 locations across Canada. Camps start as soon as May 2, 2011. Ladies (plus brides and wedding parties!) of all fitness levels are welcome to join at www.BootyCampFitness.com.

TORONTO, ON December 30, 2010 – Year after year, Canadians make the same New Year’s Resolutions: get in shape, save more, spend less, etc. Given that these resolutions have yet to be resolved, something is clearly not working. Booty Camp Fitness Inc. creator and CEO, Sammie Kennedy, notices the one element that is missing from New Year’s Resolutions and can be the key to success. Three little letters: F-U-N.

“Let’s be honest with ourselves, if something isn’t fun we’re just not going to do it. We’ll try to stick to it for awhile with the best intentions, but it won’t last,” says Kennedy. “That’s why Booty Camp has always made fun an integral part of our program. Add a group of inspiring ladies with a common goal, some great music and a knowledgeable instructor with a contagious enthusiasm for fitness and by the end of an hour you don’t even realize how intense a workout you’ve had!”

Some non-traditional group workouts that bring the fun back from being in grade school include:

Duck, Duck, Goose

Ladies form a circle (facing in at each other) all doing a series of squats & squat variations, together. One person is ‘it’ and runs around the circle (gets in her cardio) then picks someone else to be ‘it’ - mixing cardio and lower body strengthening and toning moves

Crabwalk Tag

Each lady ties a plastic bag loosely to her t-shirt, hanging out of pants so that it is accessible. Ladies are all in crabwalk position (working their triceps) and everybody is ‘it’. The goal is to crabwalk and collect the garbage bags from other ladies to make them ‘out’. Once out, she flips over and does push ups (working biceps) for the rest of the game until one lady has collected all the bags and declared the winner

Leapfrog Races

Obstacle courses where every other woman is in a downward dog position and the ladies in between curl into balls. The woman running the course has an intense cardio workout engaging her full body as she jumps, ducks and runs to complete the race.

Kennedy is available to demonstrate these games for visually exciting stories and can also share her expertise and strategies on how to develop realistic goals. Equally importantly, she can share tips on how to stay motivated and committed to achieving them throughout the year.

CREATOR SAMMIE KENNEDY RANKED AS ONE OF CANADA’S TOP WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS

Toronto, ON October 14, 2010 – Booty Camp Fitness Inc. creator & CEO, Sammie Kennedy, has been recognized by PROFIT Magazine, placing #37 on their 12th annual W100 – a ranking of Canada’s top enterprising women entrepreneurs.

“Being ranked last year as a Top 10 Emerging Woman Entrepreneur was an incredible honour, and now jumping onto the W100 list at #37 is just fantastic,” says Kennedy. “To have a magazine as well-respected and well-recognized as PROFIT take note of Booty Camp is quite the accolade. This list is full of driven, dedicated, determined women and it’s a privilege to be recognized with such successful entrepreneurs.”

Kennedy has the largest percentage growth of all the honourees on the list, growing her business a colossal 1265% over three years. Some of Kennedy’s techniques for expanding rapidly and successfully that emerging entrepreneurs can apply to their own small businesses include:

Invest & engage in employees – Booty Camp covers the full expense to fly in 80 instructors across Canada for their annual Kick Booty Conference

The company’s core values of Fun Friendly Fitness have attracted over 25,000 women to participate in the program with an extensive waiting list for consistently sold out boot camp sessions.

MAKE FITNESS A PART OF THE FALL ROUTINE

TORONTO, ON August 12, 2010 – September means getting back to routines: back to school, back to a regular work schedule and getting back to SHAPE! While the kids revisit reading, writing and arithmetic, it’s time for us to get back to cardio, strength and resistance training. CEO and creator of Booty Camp Fitness Inc., Sammie Kennedy, is ready to inspire Canadians to get their exercise back on track for fall.

“Right before summer, so many of us are absolutely determined to get into the best physical shape for summer,” says Sammie. “But between the patios, barbeques and parties, somewhere along the line we lose that goal. The beginning of fall is often when we get back to a structured routine, making it a great time to get back to a regular fitness regimen.”

Some of the top reasons shaping up often slips to the backburner include:

•	Not enough time

•	Gym memberships often require a long-term financial commitment

•	Lack of motivation

•	Not seeing results soon enough

Of course, Sammie has tips and tricks to combat these popular excuses:

•	Schedule workouts in your calendar for the same time and days every week

•	Look for fitness companies that offer pay-as-you-go solutions (i.e. 4 or 8 weeks at a time) that don’t require signing a contract

•	Rather than going at it alone, try group fitness to stay motivated – your peers will keep you going

•	Workout with a certified fitness professional who knows how to maximize your workout in minimal time with activities like Tabata training and high intensity interval training (HITT)

Sammie is available to share shape up solutions with your readers so they can get fit and healthy this fall.
