Booty Camp Fitness is THE Best Small and Medium Employer in Canada!
Media Advisory
Toronto, ON February 10, 2010 – Booty Camp Fitness Inc. (BCF) is excited to be named NUMBER ONE among the Top 50 Best Small and Medium Employers in Canada. The study, now in its sixth year, is published in the Globe and Mail and PROFIT Magazine.
“We have a unique culture at Booty Camp Fitness and being at the top of this list is an honour, especially because it’s the company’s employees who have put us here,” says BCF creator and CEO, Sammie Kennedy. “Our non-traditional environment and corporate culture allow everyone who works here to develop & grow, knowing that their contributions will have a visible and significant impact on the business. Our employees all exemplify the company’s three core values: fun, friendly, fitness.”
“We live and breathe what we promote starting here in the office,” explains Kennedy. “We have fresh, organic groceries delivered weekly and make fitness a part of our daily routine by doing an activity like yoga or kickboxing as a group. It was also a great team-building opportunity when the whole office went to Hawaii to shoot our latest workout DVD. That’s a business trip everyone was excited for!”
BCF’s Toronto-based headquarters has nine full-time employees and more than 80 licensees across Canada; each owns the camp location she instructs.
In less than three short years, BCF has grown nation-wide with over 90 locations and has further expansion plans for April. In 2009, Sammie Kennedy was recognized on both the PROFIT W100 Top 10 Emerging Women Entrepreneurs list and by Women’s Post as one of the Top 20 Women of the Year. As Canada’s largest women’s-only boot camp, BCF has attracted over 17,000 women to participate in the program with an extensive waiting list for consistently sold-out boot camp sessions.
The rankings are primarily determined using the results from Employee Opinion Surveys. Here, 21 key engagement drivers are detailed and analyzed. The evaluation process also includes the assessment of organization practices and perspectives from the leadership team. This year, more than 200 companies across Canada registered to participate in the study.
Study partners include Queen’s School of Business, Queen’s Centre for Business Venturing and Hewitt Associates. More information about the Best Small & Medium Employers in Canada is available online at http://business.queensu.ca/qcbv/sme.
