About Kendra Johnsen

Hey Ladies,

I was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Throughout my childhood and youth, I was always actively pursuing a healthy lifestyle competing in track and field, Division 1 fast ball for the Saskatoon Lasers, and cheerleading for Mount Royal Collegiate High School. After graduating I was a cheerleader for the Saskatoon Hilltops college football team for 6 years. During those years I coached various high school cheerleading teams as well. In total, I cheered competitively for 10 years with various club teams travelling all over Canada and the United States. Finally hanging up my pom poms in May of 2010, where I followed my heart to Petawawa, Ontario.

I always knew that helping people stay fit and healthy was what I wanted to do but after high school I wasn’t quite ready to jump into the industry. Therefore, I chose to take some time to figure things out and travel to a few places with my best friend. Soon I realized that I needed to do something with my life and enrolled in Business College where I got my diploma in Executive Business Administration. However, I wasn’t passionate about it and I wasn’t helping people in the way I had dreamed. So, here I am today taking that leap of faith and following my dreams of helping people in the way that they deserve. I have a passion for fitness and have been helping people pursue their fitness goals for many years. On my journey to become the best trainer for you, I have acquired the following credentials:

  • Can-Fit Pro- Personal Trainer Specialist
  • S.P.R.A (NFLA)- Group Fitness/ Boot Camp Instructor
  • Cross Fit Level 1 Certified
  • Red Cross- Standard First Aid, CPR level C and AED

Philosophy

As a trainer I believe that what I offer is real world fitness experience. I have been training in all different aspects of fitness, shadowing and learning from many other trainers and instructors; from gymnastics, to weight training and most importantly the functional movements of the body trained at a constant variance and at a relatively high intensity.

I strongly believe that the pursuit of fitness is not something that you can just learn about by reading a book but that it is something you must learn by doing so that you know what works and what doesn’t work for your body. This experience is what I will pass on to you as a client. I will guarantee you a fun, safe, and effective workout, but I will also say it is never going to be easy. All the sweat, tears, and "four letter words" are worth it in the end! That is the difference between a ‘quick fix’ and a lifestyle change. There are always going to be goals to reach.

I am excited about the fitness industry and what it has to offer because I have personally reaped the benefits of being healthy and active. I have witnessed firsthand what it will do for your physical and mental health when you are properly trained. I look forward to meeting you and helping you obtain your fitness goals!

Words of Encouragement

You may be thinking “I am intimidated or scared” but please know that these are very common feelings and we can overcome them together. Intimidation is a pessimistic word and is not something that I want to bring to the attention of my clients. Be Optimistic! Replace that fear and intimidation with a challenge that works for you.

Women are very powerful people and we are even more powerful when we feel good about ourselves, which always result in us being more successful. When you are a confident, independent woman nothing can stop you. Women do not take enough time for themselves, especially ones that have a family to care for. So that is what this boot camp will accomplish for you: give you the time to focus on YOU but at the same time you will relieve the stresses of the day while transforming your mind, body and soul; meet other great, supportive women; making lifelong friends and having fun while doing it!!

Outside of Booty Camp

I also own my own personal training business, Poise Fitness & Training and work at Active Chiropractic Family Health Center in Pembroke, ON teaching group fitness classes and personal training during the day.

I am an intensity junkie and always LOVE a challenge that is outside of my comfort zone. I always make sure I take time during the day to get my CrossFit WOD in.

I enjoy spending time outdoors (when it’s HOT), hanging out with friends and the love of my life Daren, meeting new people, travelling (whenever and wherever I can) and of course shopping. I have an addiction with shoes and Lu Lu Lemon!!!
