Hey Ladies,
Being one of the first Booty Camp instructors in Halifax is a dream come true! I am a Kinesiology student, and completed a Personal Fitness Trainer certification on the side. I have also taken a course in coaching, and volunteer with the AIM program (providing fitness opportunities for individuals with neurological conditions).
I started running in elementary school, when everyone in the gym class participated in the cross country races. Having never done sports before, I quickly grew to love running and ended up doing well in the provincial race that year. Since then, my passion grew and I participated in cross country and various track & field events throughout high school, and started attending group fitness classes in university, which I absolutely loved.
I am delighted that our society is starting to embrace healthy living once again. Boot camps are a wonderful way to enjoy getting fit, and push yourself beyond what you can do alone. They are a confidence boost as well as a great physical fitness routine. So often fitness routines are designed for men, who are built differently from women, and the results suffer. I am so excited to be part of a women's-oriented approach that truly works for us!!
A healthy lifestyle consists of the entire person, not just certain parts of her. Fitness is one of the few areas of learning that tone everything from physical muscles to confidence, intellect and mood. I am fascinated by the amount of control each person has over her own body, and how quickly positive changes can happen with determination and strength - and fun! Fitness is the most enjoyable healthy choice there is!
Instructing a Booty Camp comprises everything I want to do in life. I love teaching, working with people, recreation, biology, being outdoors - the list goes on! My goal is to help people achieve their full potential in life through healthy habits.
I love biking, and am constantly finding new ways to strap objects onto my basket (such as my violin!) so I can go everywhere on my bike. I also love running, and even adopted a puppy two years ago to keep me company on my jogs! I also enjoy volleyball, soccer, frisbee, skating, swimming, and have a yellow senior belt in choi-kwang-do.
My second degree in university is in Music. I am a professional musician (as a violinist, singer and conductor). I am proud to be one of few women conductors in a male-dominated field! I also teach private violin lessons, as well as managing the Halifax branch of Musician Finders, providing background music for any function (www.musicianfinders.ca). I am in love with my dog and spend as much time with him as possible!
