About Rachel Doucet

Hey Ladies,

My name is Rachel Doucet and I am ecstatic to be apart of the Halifax Booty Camp team.

I am so excited to meet everyone and am pumped to provide you all with an exciting dynamic camp that will help you to reach your fitness ambitions and show you what you are truly capable of. So let’s get our Booty’s in gear!

I am currently attending Dalhousie University for my Masters in Physiotherapy. I have completed my BSc. Kinesiology at Dalhousie. I was a Fitness and Sport instructor for the Canadian Military, PSP (personnel services programs) on the 2nd largest training base in Canada CFB Borden in 2007. Through PSP I received my CFC, CPT, and NLS life guarding certificates.
I was an athletic therapist for the St. Mary’s Varsity Women’s Rugby team 2007-2008, and I have my first aid- CPR level C certification.

My own personal fitness success story came about in my first year of university. All throughout high school I had been very active playing sports and doing all sorts of activities I was constantly on the go. When I went off to university that first year it all fell by the way side… I would be up late studying, not eating well, all of this made me tired and therefore feel as though I did not have any extra energy. It became a vicious cycle and I ended up gaining 15lbs It didn’t hit me until I went home for Christmas and realized how much my body had changed for the worse. So I decided to take action I progressively began running, weight training and participating in more intramurals and fitness classes. Once I brought my fitness level up I decided to try out for the Dalhousie Women’s Rugby team. Not only did I make the team I became a starting player and won the rookie of the year award. As of now I continuously work hard to maintain my ultimate fitness goal… BALANCE between school, work, exercise and anything else life has to throw my way. :)

Find Your True Self

I love that I will be able to help women discover their strengths and challenge them so that they may reach their fitness goals. Fitness for me as a woman has helped me to discover that I am truly capable of greatness. It has taught me self-confidence, how to be a leader as well as a team player and how to listen to my body but most importantly it has helped me find my true self.

My personal philosophy on life and fitness is BALANCE. You need balance in life to be happy and healthy. It is important learn to listen to your body and understand its needs be it activity, fuel, rest, a change of pace or maybe a new challenge. I am so excited to be the one to help YOU find how booty camp fitness will tip your scales.

Camaraderie is a Powerful Motivator

I am excited to be a Booty Camp instructor because this is the first fitness company that I have found that holds the same values toward fitness as me. Outside of sport it took me a while to discover that working out can and should be a fun enjoyable activity. The fact that the program is designed for women by women is fantastic. It takes away the intimidation factor that co-ed generic gyms have and replaces it with a fun, friendly accepting atmosphere and an exciting different way to get in shape and have a blast doing it. The group setting is great so you can do it with your friends and or have the opportunity to meet new people in the community. Camaraderie I know for myself is a powerful motivator to get my Booty off the couch.

The fact that I will have the opportunity to share my knowledge of health and fitness with women who are eager and motivated to make a change in their lives makes me excited beyond belief.

Outside of Booty Camp

My other athletic hobbies include: Kung Fu (Wushu), Running, Rugby, Circuit training, Ultimate Frisbee, Basketball, Fitness classes (step class, yoga, body trim…), Biking, Swimming, Wheelchair Rugby, Walking/Hiking, Whitewater rafting, Surfing, Snowboarding, Snowshoeing. I love taking on challenges and trying new things.

At the moment I am a graduate student at Dalhousie University studying Physiotherapy. I only have a year and a bit to go and am super excited to graduate. I stay active within the school community as part of the Dalhousie Physiotherapy Student Society as well as volunteer with programs such as the Nova Scotia Wheelchair rugby team. I also love to read, visit with family and friends, take care of my fish, see live music and travel.
