Hey Ladies,
I recently moved here from Vancouver, BC to follow my military husband. I love Halifax and tell everyone back home that the friendliest people in the world most likely come from Nova Scotia!
In Vancouver I worked as an Elementary school teacher and taught English as a second language to adults. I am currently working as a substitute teacher with the Halifax Regional School Board. I also run a small tutoring/ yoga business called Mind-Body-Learn, Yoga & Tutoring.
Being 5’’10 and 170lbs at 13 years old, I definitely have had my fair share of insecurities about my body. I was ashamed of my height and my body; I would walk hunched over and wear baggy clothes. I was called many names and had zero confidence. By the end of high school I decided that no one had the right to determine how I should feel. I began reading everything I could on nutrition and fitness. I joined a gym and started making my own meals and began eating more mindfully. I lost and have kept off, all of my extra weight and fell in love with my new healthy lifestyle.
Through the years I have learned to let go of trying to look like or be someone else and instead focus on being the best version of myself! This is my mission as a Booty Camp Fitness instructor: to help recruits love their body, feel gratitude for what their body is capable of and to help them reach their full potential!
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, Who are you not to be? Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. It is not just in some of us, it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." -- Marianne Williamson
I am someone who likes a lot of variety so my fitness schedule changes monthly. I am committed to sweating at least once a day! I play floor hockey, walk with friends and family, weight train regularly and practice yoga at least 6 times a week!
